Appolos SHIMAKELENI Founder
Prior to having ventured out on his own to establish ASL, Appolos served as a Senior Legal Officer at the Office of the Government Attorney (Civil Litigation) where he was mainly tasked with appearing in the High Court on behalf of the various Namibian Government Ministries and institutions on a variety of legal matters. Appolos started his legal career in 2012 and has also served in the private sector, where he consulted in diverse areas of law.
In 2017, Appolos attended the highly acclaimed Holland & Knight lawyer trainee programme in Orlando, Florida, USA. At Holland & Knight, Appolos was mentored by a senior partner and renowned lawyer, Mr. Stephen W. Snively. Through his legal engagements in the corporate and public sector space, Appolos has been exposed to judicial systems in South Africa, India, China and the USA, after having visited the said countries through various legal exchanges and conferences.
Appolos focuses and serves clients in the areas of Green Energy Law, Mining Law, TTM Law (Technology, Media and Telecommunications), Sports Law, Procurement Law and Corporate & Commercial Law. Appolos acts for several successful Namibian businessman and entities as well as several international businesses from countries like China, Brazil and the United Kingdom.
Other notable achievements:
- Elected at the Law Society of Namibia Annual General Meeting as a Council member for two terms (2018 – 2021).
- Appointed as one of the Judges for the Namibia Sports Awards by the Namibia Sport Commission for three terms (2016 to date).
- Served on the Namibian Music Awards Steering Committee (2011 – 2012).

- 2022 – Master of Laws: Information Technology Law from University of South Africa
- 2015 – Admission as a Legal Practitioner of the High Court of Namibia
- 2012 – Bachelor of Laws Honours Degree from University of Namibia
- 2010 – Baccalaureus Juris Degree from University of Namibia
Dineo Namoya Associate
Dineo is an Admitted Legal Practitioner of the High Court of Namibia and attends to matters in the areas of Commercial law, Civil Litigation and Family Law. Dineo also acts as a Company Secretary and provides company secretarial functions to ASL’s corporate clients. Prior to her appointment at ASL, she was employed as a Graduate Market Advisor in the insurance industry.
Other notable achievements:
- Appointed as a standing member of the Legal Committee under the Student Parliament at the University of Namibia.
- Appointed as the Secretary General for the University of Namibia Law Students Council.
Qualifications:
- 2023 – Admission as a Legal Practitioner of the High Court of Namibia
- 2019 – Bachelor of Laws Honours Degree from University of Namibia
Anna Uguanga Associate
Anna holds a Bachelor of Law (Honours) Degree and a Diploma in Alternative and Dispute Resolution from the University of Namibia. Prior to having joined ASL, she interned at lower courts in Northern Namibia, and completed job shadow exercises at Windhoek based law firms. At ASL, Anna attends to matters in the area of Commercial Law, Family law and general Civil Litigation.
Qualifications:
- 2023 – Admission as a Legal Practitioner of the High Court of Namibia
- 2019 – Bachelor of Laws Honours Degree from University of Namibia
- 2015 – Diploma in Alternative Dispute Resolution
Hileni Shilamba Legal Practitioner
Hileni has been at ASL since 2018, having initially joined as a student intern. She holds a Bachelor of Law (Honours) Degree from the University of Namibia and is pursuing a Postgraduate Certificate in Compliance Management at the University of Cape Town. Hileni has been molded by the industry through her several job shadowing and internship opportunities. At ASL, she amongst others handles Legal Research, Trust registrations, Debt Collection, Settlement Negotiations and general Civil Litigation. She also acts as the Assistant Company Secretary for ASL’s corporate clients.
Other notable achievements:
- Served as a Deputy Secretary of Finance at the University of Namibia’s Law Students Council.
Qualifications:
- 2021 – Bachelor of Laws Honours Degree from University of Namibia
Alisa Haludilu Legal Secretary
Alisa holds a Diploma in Accounting and Auditing from the University of Namibia (UNAM). She is currently pursuing a Honours Degree in Accounting and Auditing with the University of Namibia. She provides the necessary administrative support and ensures operational efficiency for the ASL legal team.
Qualifications:
- 2022 – Diploma in Accounting and Auditing
Leevi Negwila Finance Manager
Leevi holds a MBA Degree in Finance Management from the International University of Management (IUM). He is currently pursuing an Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountant (CIMA of London).
He has previously served at City of Windhoek and at Paragon Investments Holdings in various roles. Leevi leads ASL’s financial department and handles all financial related matters of the firm.
Qualifications:
- 2018 – Masters Degree in Business Administration-Finance Management from the International University of Management.
- 2016 – Bachelor Honours Degree in Finance Management from the International University of Management
Other notable achievements:
- Attended The Young African Leadership Initiative (YALI) Southern Africa programme at The University of South Africa (Unisa) in Public Management and Governance (2016).
- Project Management at Namibia University of Science and Technology through Namibia Business Innovation Institute (2018).
- Business Model Development at Namibia University of Science and Technology through Namibia Business Innovation Institute (2018).
CSR CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
One of the core values of ASL is our commitment and pledge to give back to the community in which we operate. Amongst others, ASL dedicates time to social responsibility initiatives in various disadvantaged locations. This may be in the form of free legal advice, donations, community campaigns etcetera. In 2022, ASL was awarded the JP Karuaihe Foundation Legal Excellence Award – Social Responsibility at the Annual General Meeting of the Law Society of Namibia.
